Introducing a new contributer

Turning-japanese.info is pleased to introduce our newest contributer to the blog, Tommy Kan.

Tommy was born and grew up in China mainland. He came to Japan in 1997 after working in Beijing for two years.

He didn't speak Japanese at all when came to Japan, but he learned and practiced Japanese in daily life and work. He never went to language school. [His spoken and written English is fluent as well]. He loves the バライエティ {baraieti} ("variety") TV shows of Japan (TV was a good language teacher). He also loves Japanese culture and food.

He studied computer science in college in China. Starting as a programmer, he then became a system engineer, before finally becaming a technical consultant in the enterprise application field. He loves sports like basketball, roller-blading and swimming.

Was naturalized to Japan on 2003.

I should mention that on a personal level, Tommy and I work for the same company, so we communicate in person quite often.

And speaking from the blog creator level, I'm pleased to have somebody contribute in English to this blog from a former Chinese national perspective as China is the largest minority group in Japan and thus the most common case for naturalization. I welcome his perspective and experiences.

よろしくお願いします! {yoroshiku onegai shimasu!} ("Nice to meet you!")
